I decided to replace the spout in my bathtub with a new one. The old spout came off with no problem, but the pipe (which looks to be a 1/2 copper) has some kind of threaded plastic ring on the outside of it. That‘s what the spout had been threaded onto. However, the plastic ring increased the diameter of the copper pipe, making it impossible to thread a new universal spout onto it.and I can‘t fit the old spout onto the pipe. What should I do?
