Question:

Whar is a memory wire for in a car radio wiring harness?

I have a 92 Honda Accord DX and just bought a radio for it. I hooked up all the wires correctly( i think ) except for the memory wire and it doesn't even turn on. What does the memory wire do? Is there something else I'm missing?

Answer:

particularly than slicing the harness, purchase an adaptor harness (availible at any vehicle audio shop and often even at places like Autozone and Wal-mart. That way in case you identify to sell the motor vehicle, you may positioned the production facility head back in and shop your good stereo!
the memory wire does exactly what it says keeps the memory for your radio for example your clock and preset channels. Check your ground wire again make sure its good. The only other ones you should have is your constant which is your memory and your ignition wire which turns it on.
The memory wire is the constant 12V source that's not switched on and off with the key. In most after-market head units, it's also the main power wire. If you don't connect this wire, the radio won't work.
