I have to do a school project that is about Iron Ore. We had to choose a country that we think is best for obtaining this natural resource. Now, I need 5 reasons why it is the best. I had trouble finding reasons on Google. PLEASE HELP! THIS PROJECT IS DUE TOMORROW! (I know, I‘m a slacker!)
Steel is needed extensively in the Chinese construction industry (for reinforced concrete, girders etc). China has more construction than any other country in the world; its economic growth is dependent on this construction continuing. 1) Iron ore is heavy, very bulky difficult to move. 2) Iron ore needs expensive elaborate smelters to make the cast iron from the iron oxide ore then turn the cast iron into steel which could then be built around the iron ore mine, significantly reducing some of this bulk movement. 3) Iron ore discovered in China can be mined, processed used more immediately than iron ore found in other parts of the world because of the ready market available for it to supply. 4) Reduces the economic dependency of imported iron ore from overseas e.g. Australia, Brazil West Africa. 5) Reduces the need for expensive railway construction overseas to carry iron ore from inland foreign iron ore deposits to foreign ports which have little other infrastructural use to the Chinese economy. Reduces the shipping costs therefore the use of fuel, of bringing the ore from the foreign port to China.
