i want the speakers to be black
I had a nice set of Polk DB 4x6 speakers for the rear and then some blaupunkt 4x6 series for the front for my 944. The issue with the front is that the center of the speakers tend to push on the center of the cover from protruding, which is NOT usually an issue for the rear. The blaupunkt thx series (if i recall) are what fit up front. There are some other options, but your best bet is to measure the depth and center of a speaker that will fit, go find a set of 4x6 speakers that you REALLY LIKE the sound of, make sure those are the same depth and measure out the same and go with those. Some people cut it up and stuff, but the doors are very slim and are pretty sleek with the cover on them. Having a giant speaker cover poking out on the door of a Porsche looks pretty tacky in my opinion, but to each his own. One thing to also consider. some of the 944s had a special factory option that actually used the compartment where the arm rest was as a speaker compartment. You might have to track it down, but they basically instead of letting you use it as storage, held speakers in there with their own grills and you couldn't even tell the different hardly. I don't remember the size they held but it was a pretty rare and a pretty cool option if you can hunt them down.
