What are the classifications of AC motors?

What are the classifications of AC motors?

Answer:

According to the different rotor structure, three-phase asynchronous motor can be divided into two major categories, squirrel cage and winding. Among them, squirrel cage is the most widely used.
According to the principle of AC motor can be divided into synchronous and asynchronous motor two categories, there are strict correspondence between the rotating speed and the AC synchronous motor frequency, speed in operation strictly constant; asynchronous motor speed with the change of the load change slightly.
According to the required number of different phase AC power supply, AC motor can be divided into single-phase and three-phase two categories, currently the most widely used is the three-phase asynchronous motor, this is because the three-phase asynchronous motor has the advantages of simple structure, low cost, durable, easy maintenance etc.. In the absence of three-phase power supply and some less power motor, single-phase asynchronous motor is widely used.
