Question:

What are the costs per linear foot to remove asbestos covering copper heat pipe or to encapsulate it?

What are the costs per linear foot to remove asbestos covering copper heat pipe or to encapsulate it?

Answer:

Encapsulation will be more than removal these days. The costs for removal will vary by location of the facility and the location within the facility. For exposed pipe, without complications (kids, people, hot pipes), $1-2 per foot plus a flat setup fee is common. The only way to know for your location is to just get three bids from licensed contractors (they are free).
I don’t know what the cost would be ….I know it’s not necessarily cheap You could encapsulate it yourself. If it’s just a pipe wrap ……….pick up some oversized pipe insulation {comes in 4’ sections} and use that …You should wear a mask and shut off your blower if you have forced air, and have return air in the vicinity. Undisturbed the asbestos poises no hazard ….you should be able to wrap it yourself without concern.
