What are the main technical properties of lime?
Quicklime has strong moisture absorption. Storage of quicklime not only prevents moisture, but also should not be stored for too long.
The shrinkage is large when hardened. In addition to lime milk paint, should not be used alone in engineering usually mix with sand, paper, hemp etc. materials to reduce shrinkage, and saving lime.
Poor water resistance. Lime should not be used in damp conditions, nor should it be used solely for building foundations.
(1) good water retention. Adding lime paste into cement mortar and mixing mortar can remarkably improve workability of mortar.(2) hardening is slow and strength is low. Lime mortar compressive strength of 28d 1:3 is only 0.2 ~ 0.5MPa.
