I recently purchased a new head unit for my car. The after market stereo that came with it was installed using a wire harness and everything. I was wondering what the odds are of me just replacing the old head unit and plugging in the already installed wiring harness into the new unit. Both are pioneers. I don't know if that will make a difference.
It does not hurt to try. The odds are pretty good considering the fact that both are pioneer. I would try it and if it does not work then just buy a new wiring harness. This will save u the time and headache of installing ur new head unit.
It is very possible. You will need to inspect the harness that is already in the car and compare it to the harness that came with the new car. Chances are they are the same. Then look to see if the old harness plugs into the new radio. If it does, bingo, you're golden. If the plug doesn't fit, you'll need to switch harnesses which will require a little bit skill. The plug will only go in, if it works. Pioneer will not make a plug that fits and be wrong. It's kind of idiot proof. If it fits, it'll work. If it doesn't, it won't and you need to rewire.
