Regular white light bulb and a red light from an exit sign- What are the primary colors that the light contains? Why?
Bub, White light contains VIBGYOR colors in increasing order of wavelength, that's violet indigo blue green yellow orange and red, then for red light it contains Red color light only.

the ordinary hues in paint while all mixd togeher will make a gloomy gray or black coloration. the three hues ordinary of light are cyan, magenta, and amber, and while mixed all at the same time make white gentle. Day gentle has all 3 in hundreds of mixtures and are in wave lengths which replicate off of the floor of each and every thing. Paint is a liquid and covers the floor of issues.gentle is a wave lenght and seen clean.
A white light bulb contains most of the visible spectrum of light (depends strongly on filament temperature - doubtful will ever see an 'violet' light - see black body radiation reference). The same 'white' light could be created from primary colors by mixing red, green, and blue light with white being defined as equal amounts of each color. The red light for an exit sign could be either a white light that passes through a red filter which blocks the blue and green light, or it could be generated as pure red light by a semiconductor with an appropriate band gap in the substrate to cause only red photons to be emitted.
