If your brewing your own beer, you should put it in brown glass bottlesYou can either buy them from your local homebrew shop or use used ones (not twist-offs)Most homebrewers reuse bottles to save moneyNo homebrewer has access to a canning line.
They are to reflect light to fill and avoid harsh shadows on the negativeYou can actually make a pretty reasonable substitute with aluminum foil (aluminium for you Brits, etc.) and a sheet of cardboardJust cover the cardboard with the foilGet some spray adhesive and spray the cardboard first and it will make it last longerAs for what you take to a set, you can take all the equipment in the world and get nothing and take nothing but your camera and get that perfect shotAs a beginner, start carrying your camera with you all the timePhotograph everythingDon't worry too much about equipmentTry snapping 30 shots of the exact same image, but use different exposure times, etcKeep a note pad so that you can compare them afterwards and see how each change affects your photographA simple test is to take a picture of a friend outside without the reflector and then take another with your friend holding the reflector to shine light from below up to his/her faceIt's a stunning difference.
