Question:

What brand or type of vacuum is the most effective and most affordable?

It's 2014 and it doesn't really seem like vacuums have come that far. What's worse, they like everything else on the market are made for the dump. So whatever deal I happen to find on a seemingly decent vacuum is really going towards the next seemingly decent vacuum..... the vacuum I own is a perfect example! it ran me about 50 bucks but it's crap, and overall the cleanliness of my carpet, and air are the real cost of my savings...The only vacuum that I can say really proved itself in front of me was a Kirby, but there's no way in hell I could justify quot;to myselfdropping 1500 or more (depending how good the salesman was) on a vacuum cleaner....even ifit'll suck dirt through 12 inches of cotton...So to my question, what vacuum cleaner brand, model, etc. has the best suction and filtration but also won't break the bank??? Somewhere around $100-$200 maybe even $300 if need beAny info is appreciated, thanks in advance

Answer:

yeah a small shock vac would do you good. or what ever size you need yeah you can suck up just about anything even coins :) lol its even good for vacuuming the car. or if thats not what you had in mind. i would say go with dyson from overstock or OKorder
1. Stay away from Dyson, they are high-priced disposables as you will see if you visit the nearest tip = there are always loads of them there. 2. Vacuum cleaners need a certain amount of maintenance which most folk can't be bothered to do so the cleaners fail. It takes me less than an hour once a month to clean out stuff such as long hairs from the rotating bush mechanism and apply a spot of light oil here and there. 3. They are made to suck up dust and small items of debris such as grit particles and small leaves. Avoid trying to suck up large and claggy items such as cat or dog poop, chewing gum and thongs which will definitely wreck the cleaner. 4. Oh yes and what is the make of my now four year old lightweight cleaner? It's a VAX which cost me around $130.
This okorder /... We aren't hill billies btw...lol Works good, and will pick up spills.
Dyson, eureka, shark, dirt devil, Bissell, got 20 of each laying in the office. Spend real money on a Kirby that will last 20 plus years cleaning up to 14 inches deep. Call for a demonstration at your local Kirby store. They'll Show You the Difference between Kirby and any other.
For a small price what you get is crap and in vacuum cleaner terms $300 is a small price. $50 buys you a disposable one. For new ones, that is. Do what I did. Buy a really high end vacuum but buy a used one for less than half the price of a new one. I'm sure you have a vacuum cleaner service place somewhere around. See what they have. That's what I did 25 years ago and I'm still using the same vacuum. Yes, it cost me $500 but that was in 1988 or so. Counting a new motor installed a couple of years ago, one professional service after vacuuming all the drywall dust out of my new house, and filters, that vacuum has cost me about $37 a year. Wouldn't be surprised if it outlasts me.
