Question:

What color is true key lime pie?

What color is true key lime pie?

Answer:

yea probably
well, if you really want to you could use sweet limes, since they'll have less citric acid. You might put the zest instead, since it has most of the oils, but it might have acids too. If you really want a tart lime flavour i suggest you bake the cake normally and then use the lime juice as part of a fruit frosting since lemon/lime juice enhances frosting and creams that are fruit based. I suggest you find a recipe first though!
Yeah, I think so. Lime Juice is a solvent and so it'll most probably break up and dissolve all the other ingredients in the cake. It'll break the worst with milk eggs, which are important substances to make a nice traditional cake so it's best NOT to add any Lime Juice. But, maybe if you really want to, experimenting for the first time, you could add a tiny, tiny, tiny drop of it and see what happens. :)
