Question:

What exactly is a computer bus?

I‘m trying to learn more about computer science, but I‘m very confused by the bus of a computer. When I research it, I get a lot of different answers. Is there a simple way to explain it?

Answer:

All you need to know is the google bus.
The origin of bus comes from the old days of electrical power distribution. A busbar, or a strip or bar of copper, brass or aluminum was used to conduct electricity within a switchboard, distribution board or other electrical systems. The busbar became the bus in PC lingo. But essentially the function is similar, the bus is used to transfer data between components inside a computer, data is transferred as an electrical signal.
A bus (in computing) is a subsystem that transfers data between components inside a computer, or between computers. You can get for example a USB (Universal Serial BUS), or a PCI-E BUS (PCI-Express)
