Question:

What is a good description of Broadcloth?

What is a useful description of broadcloth? (Esp. as differentiated from cotton.)I know it as the cotton woven fabric used in men‘s button up shirts, but not all the fabric used for that purpose is broad cloth. So I would further describe it as a thin, but not transparent, tightly-woven cotton, with a slight sheen and smooth hand used for button up shirts, commonly. What would you say?

Answer:

80% polyester-20% cotton is broadcloth in Canada Oxford shirting is cotton and what I think you are asking.
Turn main water supply off.drain all water from lines(turn on all water faucets in the house)wait till nothing drips from water taps.clean copper tube by wiping with dry rag then sand paper the spot where leak exists.put some flux around pipe where leak is,then solder with acid/lead solder.Make sure to let cool and re-solder again to make sure hole is completely covered as if it's not and you turn water back on and it still leaksit's a pain in the *** to start all over.Good luck, should work just fine though!
Cut out the section with the hole, get a coupling solder it in. If it's in an accessible spot, you could use a sharkbite fitting (no soldering). Other than that, a piece of rubber a hose clamp will provide a temporary repair, or your local hardware store might have a repair clamp.
you can take a piece of hose with the approximate I.D. as the outside of the pipe.Cut a 1 inch length slit it lengthwise, put silicone sealer on the inside of hose.Put it around the pipe and secure it with two hose clamps side by side.It will not leak and is easy to do.
