Question:

What is a good night time cloth diaper?

I have a heavy wetter who soaks through his Fuzzibunz perfect size diaper. I found that putting two hemp inserts in works but Its very hard and bulky and looks uncomfortable for him. Ant suggestions?

Answer:

when u are diggin the roots up snap them near the bottom and spray weed killer on them.
Try a bamboo insert- they're a bit more absorbent compared to hemp. What I find works best is a bamboo and microfibre combination for my heavy wetter- I pop a 500gsm six layer bamboo towelling insert as well as a six layer microfibre insert in my daughters nappies. That keeps her dry for half the night which enables me to get two four hour blocks of sleep in! I found using full bamboo inserts didn't soak up the pee quick enough to prevent her waking, the microfibre soaks it up quicker than the bamboo does which prevents her from feeling wet for longer.
I would suggest using a fitted cloth diaper with wool pulled over the top. We use the Green Mountain Diapers Workhorse Fitted. Fitted diapers are very very absorbent while also being one of the most trim cloth diapers available. It's extremely economical and easy to wash and use. We bought the snap-less variety of the GMD Workhorse Fitted because I felt like we would get the longest usage out of them this way. We fold down the rise to get a more snug fit and use a snappi to close. As my little guy gets bigger, we can leave the rise fully extended. Wool is soft, cute, easy to wash, bullet-proof, naturally anti-bacterial, and water resistant. It only needs to be washed and lanolized about once per month unless it gets soiled. I would suggest checking out some places that offer hand knit longies, shorties and soakers. You can also find machine knit and upcycled woolies as well. 100% Polyester pants also make a great diaper cover with a snappi'd prefold or fitted. My little guy has loads of 100% polyester pants and pajamas! Even if you were to use a pocket, AIO or AI2, pulling polyester pants or pj's up over the top is a great way to ensure that your little one and their bedding will remain absolutely dry all night long. For a PUL cover, we use the Blueberry Coverall. It has gussets on the sides and fits babies from 10 - 40 lbs. There are lots of cute prints and the fit is fabulous! No leaks ever!
