Question:

What is better: AMD vs Intel?

Hey there.I'm looking to buy a custom computer from a company and I am having some issues choosing the processor, between Intel and AMD.I am looking to spend around ?900 on the computer and the AMD Processor I can afford is the AMD Bulldozer 8 Core FX-8150 @ 3.60 ghz or the the Intel Core i5-2500k Quad Core @ 3.30 ghz.I'm a total noob when it comes to hardware (much better at software) and I would be looking to use this computer for video editing / gaming. Any help would be really appreciated.

Answer:

Intel hands down
if you want performance you want intel If you want performance on a budget you want AMD That being said the top level of Intel ALWAYS outperform AMD. you pay more for the Intel but you do get what you pay for. As a Repair tech I see far fewer failures with Intel based systems I find an awful lot of deal AMD CPU's and Motherboards, curiously AMD systems account for 20% of the systems I work on but account for 90% of the systems that are simply, completely dead. AD
Just to tell if you want a computer that can play the game Silent Hunter 5 Battle of the Atlantic then I would say Intel Core 2! AMD overheats too much because it uses all it's power so go with Intel Core 2 and Intel but for Silent Hunter 5 Intel Core2
the bulldozer is kinda shitty. AMD has established itself as a budget CPU manufacturer. Dollar for dollar, you get more value out of an AMD. With that said, a good AMD chip will never outperform a good Intel chip. AMD's bulldozer was a huge disappointment; their implementation of SMT doesn't match Intel's hyperthreading. Intel is more expensive, but the performance is unmatched. Best performance is Intel. Best value is AMD.
Personally, I use Intel
