I am looking for a good price for a store bought vacuum. Nothing too expensive, but something that is great for picking things up. -Light-Weight.-Affordable.-With a hose.
I would suggest you call a Kirby sales office, and ask if they have any reconditioned machines for sale. Not only will you get the best vac on the market, but for a reconditioned machine, you will not pay any more than for a cheaper models new cost. I have one I loaned my son a few years ago, an one I have used for 5-6 years. Both bought second hand for less than $300.00, and both are still going strong. Mine will almost suck the rugs off the floor. I have had every kind you can name, but none was ever this good.
I bought a Bissel powerforce at Walmart, it better than any kirby or oreck that sales man have came and demonstrated for me. I even use my vacum beside theirs and it was better. It's bagless and the price is right and it has a hose and attachments that you can add,I added a hose to reach the ceiling, but it is an upright. It's the best vacum for the price I've found.it even pulls dirt from under the carpets, if you run it over it at least 5 times and keep the filters clean, which is all you do is wash them.
Most good vacuum cleaners start at around $250. and up. Anything that costs less will be a piece of junk. Check Target and Walmart sales ads and see whats on sale. Another great place to check is Costco or Sams Club. A good vacuum can run anywhere from $ 250 up ti $1200. Good quality and usability does not come cheap. You might also check your local Yellow Pages for shops that repair vacuum cleaners. They frequently have used but rebuilt vacuums for a lot less money than a new one. Stay away from Kirby and Oreck. They are very expensive and not necessarily that great.
About $40-50 at Walmart, and they work as well as the expensive ones.
