What is the difference between stainless steel tube 304L and 304N?
304N is a nitrogen containing stainless steel and nitrogen is added to increase the strength of the steel.
The lower carbon content minimizes the precipitation of carbides in the heat affected zone near the weld, while the precipitation of the carbides may lead to intergranular corrosion in stainless steels in certain environments.
304L is a variety of 304 stainless steel with low carbon content, used for occasions where welding is required.
