Question:

What is the Problem with my boiler?

I have a Weil-McLain CG-4 SPDN boiler set up for my house with two Honeywell 40004850-001 single-zoned valves. When trying to hook up all up with thermostats, it appears that the pump will work fine with the upper floor, but for the current floor (same floor as the boiler), the pump seems to be having trouble circulating the water. I'm not sure if it's a wiring issue, or if a recent baseboard installed on this floor is making the whole floor need more pumping power than the pump can give. Really I'm just looking for any kind of help or advice. Everything is appreciated. Thankyou

OMG you should contact consumer council; I am not a plumber but I have reason to believe your problem is the same one I had in November. It took my corgi reg plumber 3 weeks to find it but because the problem had been so simple the consumer council said he could not bill me a substantial amount, it cost 60 pound for 3 weeks work! The problem was a blockage in the inlet pipe, they checked the usual pipe coming out of the boiler but not the water pipe going into it, because apparantly he has never seen such a blockage on an inlet pipe - however my mother had the same problem last week and told the plumber about my boiler - it was the same prob! It is apparently common if you have previously had a coal or coke fire and still have the same radiators! Good luck getting sorted but you should have comeback on the plumbers you have paid if they have not rectified the problem so don't pay out anything else!!! Good luck!
Grab an amp meter, and stick it on the black wire on the 1st floor pump. Now call for heat and see if its actually running (pulling amps). If it's not, then check the voltage at the pump, and/or the control wiring. If the pump is pulling amps: Shut the boiler down, close off the 1st floor return pipe ball valve, and 2nd floor supply and return valves. Hook a hose up to the draw off just above the 1st floor ball valve, and run it outside or to the sump. Open the draw off valve, and let it run for a couple mins. Close the draw off and open all the other valves. Turn your system back on and test it again.
