What it takes to do plumbing under kitchen sink ?
1) A modem is used for dial-up internet. If you subscribe to a dial-up internet service (or have access to one through work or school), then you can plug your laptop into a phone line and dial in for internet access. I guess you do have this option (from reading your second question). Just remember that you cannot have two computers on the dial-up internet at once on the same phone line. 2) You can use the wireless at stores and libraries and other places with public WiFi access. However, don't use your neighbor's wireless if you can get it because that's a crime (kind of like walking in your neighbor's open door and using their blender without permission). You also leave yourself open to whatever nasty worms your neighbor has been infected with. 3) The 2GB of memory that your computer has is RAM. This is just temporary memory that is used by the computer to store programs that are running and files that are in use. It gets deleted every time you restart the computer. You should look at the hard drive size (it will probably be 120GB or more) on a new laptop. If this is an old laptop, then it might actually have just 2GB of hard drive space, in which case I must implore you to buy a different laptop, as this one just plain sucks. Generally, downloading movies/TV shows/etc through iTunes or anther legitimate service will not affect performance at all. However, if you use a service like Limewire or Frostwire that give you the ability to download bootlegged copies of this media then you risk getting viruses/spyware/malware. These can (and will) affect your computer's performance. So as long as you keep to the legitimate sites (like iTunes and MP3), you should be fine. Hope that helps!

answer for the guy that said using your neighbor's wifi connection is a crime i'd like to see them prosecute for that one. if you don't have a secure WPA, then you're going to get your signal jacked
