I have installed too many of those doors to count. The biggest problem with them is the one your having right now. Especially if they are facing southward. Lots of headaches. My advise to you is bite the bullet and get a new one. Trying to get that one back to 'like new' is hard and time consuming. Trying to repair it yourself and may even cost you more money in the long run.

His logic was that if he put a spike on a house it would draw the electricity out before it built up enough to make a lightening strike. There is a cool photo of a rod that has been struck by lightning in a storm, too.
The whole thing is just fiction, of course. Time travel into the future is actually fairly easy. You just need to go close to the speed of light for a while, and when you you stop, you will be as far into the future as you desire to go. However, flux capacitors aside, going into the past is probably impossible, although some theorists think it may be remotely possible, but EXTREMELY difficult, if at all. So once you make it say 300 years into the future, you can't get back. I do think the idea of only allowing going through time naked is rather interesting. But sadly, this is fiction, also.
