What kind of gear do I need?! Help! (Ice Hockey)?
For your equipment i would go to a hockey store (store with hockey equipment) and ask someone who works there to help fit you and pick out good equipment. You will need: A jill (boys use a jock, girls use a jill), shin pads, hockey socks, skates (which you already have), a neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, a jersey, a helmet , gloves and a stick. So just go to your preferred hockey or sports store and tell the person helping you that it is going to be your first year and they should be able to help you and explain a bit about what each piece of equipment is.
see if there is a local players bench store, there is always really friendly and helpful folks there. you need hockey shorts, a jock strap, a helmet (with face cage) mouth guard, shin pads, elbow pads, chest pads, hockey gloves, jersey, hockey socks, skates, and a stick. the two peices of equipment you really need to focus on is skates and a helmet. dont fudge on those! as for a stick, if this is your first year, i would go for a cheap wooden stick, they are usually around $20 - $30. despite being the cheapest stick out there, you can do everything with a wooden stick that you can with a $200 graphite stick. good luck!
is youre startin in hockey u dont need any pro stock. get : Helmet : reebok have some very good for 120$ Neck guard : 30$ (almost nobody wears this anymore) shoulder rest : reebok make good ones : 100-120$ elbow pads : 100$ gloves : 75-100$ hockey panties : 100-150S pads : 80-120$ girl jackstrap : 40$ Stick : sticks are very personnal but i recommend you to buy a cheap first one and try different curves, height and flex. now if u play in a league, theyll give u sox and jersey, if you don't , normal sox are around 12-20$ new wave sox are 30-40$ jersey is from 50-300$.
