Question:

What kind of hockey stick to get? Starting Midget league?

Hey, I‘m starting hockey next season, not sure what kind of stick to get. I‘ve been eyeing those Warrior Dolomite DD sticks, but not sure what flex and stuff would be good for it. Any suggestions?

Answer:

Wood. If your starting out its not going to matter if you have a wood or composite stick. So go with the wood one.Sherwood makes good wood sticks.
If you're talking about a bent rim you'll have to replace it. otherwise you can adjust your fork tubes if the alignment is off. You'll have to pull some of the plastic off if you do it yourself. Jixxer600s are pretty simple to take apart there but you have to know what you're doing to align the wheels
If you can get the front end off the ground with a work stand etc., all you have to do is loosen the bolts on the upper and lower triple clamps and then loosen the axle (many people forget to do this). Most of the time the wheel will just spring back into place. Be sure you have a torque wrench if you do it yourself since triple clamp bolts must be tightened to the correct specs.
What's more important than the speed of the crash is the force of the crash, like if you hit a curb or such. If it's just your handlebars (I believe they're clip-on style on your bike) you may be able to just loosen the clamps straighten them out yourself. If your forks, triple clamp or even frame got bent, you'll probably have to replace tho$e. Big $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. The frame is one reason there are so many bikes with salvage titles. BTW, if you want to keep the bike (track day bikes don't have to be all shiny) and haven't yet had to report this to your insurance company, you should use your own money to fix the bike so you won't have a claim on your record and the higher insurance premium that goes with it.
All of this depends on several factors. Is this your first year ever or have you played and are already fairly good. If you are serious about hockey and good at it, I would suggest buying a Bauer or Synergy stick with around 100 flex. The stiffer the stick, the stronger the shot. I hear that Warriors look very good but break easily and are cheap.
