Question:

What kind of radiation would cause magnetic tape damage?

I‘m just wondering if a certain kind of radiation could cause degradation of an audio recording to magnetic tape. Source material(s) would be very much appreciated.

Answer:

Breakfast cereal, milk, dark green vegetables and other fresh fruits and vegetables with lots of deep color.
Beans, broccoli, pasta somewhat, whole grains, cereals.
liver. raw organic veggies that are green in color. also beet is excellent.
Heat, probably, i.e. infrared radiation. I imagine a sufficiently powerful radio wave could erase a tape, if the magnetic component was strong enough.
Any strong magnetic field will erase the tape. Degausing coils reverse the magnetic polarity at a fairly high frequency. Ionizing radiation, like UV will eventually make the tape brittle.
