Question:

What kind of steel does stainless steel belong to?

What kind of steel does stainless steel belong to?

Answer:

The main alloying element in stainless steel is Cr, and only when the Cr content reaches a certain value can the steel be corrosion resistant. Therefore, stainless steel in general, wCr are above 13%. Stainless steel also contains Ni, Ti, Mn, N, Nb and other elements.
Should be counted as low carbon alloy steel bar. The corrosion resistance of stainless steel decreases with the increase of carbon content. Therefore, the carbon content of most stainless steel is lower, and some steel wC (carbon content) is even lower than 0.03% (such as 00Cr12).
