What makes a magnet work?
if a conductor has all its magnetic domains aligned in the same direction the material is a magnet
this is what basically happens: magnets are charged, magnetic materials, have what we call free electrons, these are negatively charged. the charge in the magnet when it comes in contact with the metal, will repel the free electrons as fas as it can. this changes the charge of the metal on both sides. one side will become negative or north, as the electrons leave, the other side will become positive as its overrun by electrons. this effect will dissapear as soon as ou remove the magnet.
