What are some on the most common minerals or chemicals found in just plain tap water?

Indianjohn is right. Those cracks might not show, but as soon as you put riding stresses on that old, hard rubber, they will.
the tyres may have a flat spot where they sat on the ground. The tyres when deflated will be rock hard. The tyres when correctly inflated will have cracks in them along the side walls, inbetween the tred. When your riding, because the tyres are old they would heatup or grip properly and may overheat. Any flat spots will cause vibrations 15 year old tyres ive used and they were fine the oldest tyres ive used are 22yrs old, but were still soft
