Dark ones. Also often cool and damp in shallow caves. Actually, many caves are formed in limestone. You would find limestone, travertine and other carbonates.
You should never try to operate the windshield wipers without first clearing the snow off the window and making sure the wiper blade is not stuck to the window from the ice. Always pop them away from the windo first. You may have stripped the gear movement, and may need to replace the motor. You should be able to find one at a junk yard pretty cheap.
Before you go to extremes, try the simple things first. It might be something as simple as a dead fuse. Check your owner's manual and find out where the fuse box is. You probably only have to replace the wiper fuse.
