Question:

What's a locked keyboard ?

Every so often, a tiny padlock appears on my cell phone screen, which means my keyboard is locked . I guess the button that locks the keyboard gets pushed by accident, and it locks the keyboard . What does it mean when a keyboard is locked ? I never notice any difference at all . As far as I can tell, there isn't a penny's worth of difference between a locked keyboard and an unlocked keyboard . Whenever my keyboard is locked, I push the button to unlock it . As far as I can tell, I'd never want my keyboard to be locked . Can I buy a cell phone that doesn't have a lock your keyboard button, or one where you can't lock your keyboard by accident ? Why would I ever want a locked keyboard ? Thank you in advance for your answers .

Answer:

Its probably for people who want to lock their keyboard from preventing it from typing in things while it's in their pocket etc. I don't think there are any phones that don't lock keyboards while you aren't using it.
Well, locking your keyboard is a great way to make sure your phone doesn't accidentally pocket-dial. Basically it locks your keyboard so you can't type anything (and its usually a button that wont have a chance of being pressed while in someone's pocket or case) or call anyone. I don't think you can get a phone without a keyboard, because this is the new technology and everything has it. Also, if your phone gets stolen, for example, if your keyboard is locked and the person who took it doesn't know how to unlock it, they can't use the keyboard, which basically means you can't use your phone. :)
