Question:

What to do with my BPA plastic?

I have a food steamer that uses BPA plastic. I want to get rid of it because of the dangers of those plastics. How can I properly dispose of this product?

Answer:

I believe that the health issues related to BPA are when you have food or drinks in contact with the plastic. As long as you're not using it for food, you could find some other use for it, such as using it for a non-edible plant. Other than repurposing it, there's not much else you can do, as it's not likely to be recyclable. Unfortunately, the landfill is the only option.
Call the town hall, they are equipped to direct you to the proper disposal, and do get rid of it, as just last week Dr. Oz had a show on how dangerous it is, never use in microwave, nor put hot food in it then store in refrigerator, the chemical changes in the plastics are detrimental. Use glass, pyrex is perfect, and now safe containers are being put out there for the consumers. I was just informed by two ladies here in the Public Library, (asked them how to spell pyrex, and they said, NEVER BUT NEVER, **REUSE *ANY PLASTIC BOTTLES, OVER AGAIN,---even *ANY STORE BOUGHT ONES,, gee, *even I never knew that, one, I was refilling mine with purified water, putting them in refrigerator, *but now I will stop.! Live learn, don't know if Pyrex 8oz or 16 oz bottles are available either?
