Question:

What to get sandy Bridge 2600k vs an amd bulldozer fx, amds 6990 vs gtx 590?

I know theres always debate between whats better it seems to be that intel has this one as far as processors go. I was thinking of going with a i7 sandy bridge 2600k with either a asrock p67 or a gigabyte z68That paired with a evga 590 3gb gddr5 728 bit memoryOr I can go with an amd processor, maybe an older phenom or the newer fx buldozers with the 6990.Keep in mind which ever way i go its a single gpu setup. From what ive heard the sandy bridges still outperform the buldozers. I wanted to get some NON BIASED feedback from you guys. Sources are also much appreciated. Full setup with intel nvidea $2000. With amd, it would probably be cheaper but im looking for a system that will max out EVERY game along with skyrim and battlefield 3 at 1900 x 1080.

Answer:

gtx580 is faster than gtx590. I am still looking at benchmarks on the procs. there are a couple of benchmarks which the bulldozer excels at. where it seems to do well at is with video and 3d. in other words, its greatest asset is its gpu. the bulldozer line only has 1/2 the cache lines for the number of cores. go figure that one out. for the tasks that were chosen (3d, video, excel), bulldozer seems to multitask well, better than the i7-990x. you know intel is not going to take this sitting down. they've yet to show their processor. pov-ray ray-tracer is something I use and it's REALLY SLOW. takes 2 days to make a short simple video clip, and 30 minutes to render an image on my pentium 4 HT 2.8GHz. so don't think it's bad video they are doing on the pov-ray demo, it's really awesome they actually got a frame rate. lots of floating point calculations. so what you get depends upon what you are doing I guess. also, the amd demo shows the problems on a LAPTOP processor. I don't think you will this choppiness on a desktop proc.
George is a moron who hasn't even checked the benchmarks. Bulldozer is a total failure of a CPU. Go with an i5 2500k. It still manages to slap Bulldozer silly in benches, especially gaming. You can find reviews all over for this stuff. The i5 is also cheaper than an FX 8150. 1000w is overkill, even with a 590. 800w would do the trick.
The new bulldozer amd's fx -8150 has fail to beat the i7-2600k in benchmarks checks
flow with the i5-2500k intel sandy bridge processor for sturdy perfromance in gaming , amds are greater much less high priced and sturdy for gaming and a asus p8p67 motherboard, 8gb of ram, amd hd 6950 image card, and a 650 watt cooler grasp psu
i7 2600 is much better than Bulldozer. Check any reviews
