Question:

What tolerances should I use to allow alumnium fittings to fit into each other?

We are trying to design a device to open packagesWe need to have a tolerance so are pieces will fit tight enough togetherWhat is a good size tolerance that would work well with aluminum fittings?

Answer:

The total area of the aluminium sheets used for making the tin is aluminium???? Refer to what diagram? If you expect other people to do your homework for you, the least you can do is give them a sensible question.
Basically there are four types of fits Clearance fit; precision sliding fit; transition fit and interference fit Tolerances vary depending on size of componentsHowever as a thumb rule, let the tolerances provide a clearance of Clearance fit; 0.08mm Precision sliding fit; 0.03mm Transition fit; 0.01 to -0.005mm Interference fit; -0.01 to -0.025mm
