What torch works best to solder copper pipes?

Answer:

A bernzomatic propane torch should when turned wide open be sufficient. Is your tank almost empty or the thing old and worn out? is the pipe empty of water? (thats a big no no)
Any propane torch will work. One with MAPP gas will burn hotter and work faster. The real important point to soldering copper pipes is cleaning the copper before soldering. Clean the outside of the pipe with sandpaper and the inside of the coupling also. Do not touch the cleaned area with your fingers which will leave an oil residue on the material. Use flux on the joint. Heat the joint, not the pipe. Apply solder around the joint. When it flows remove heat and do not move until solder sets.
