this is for my art project: unusual spaces
Each character was great for their show. But for shear knowledge I would have to pick Voyager's Dr. and Phlox. I really liked McCoy, but he rarely practiced medicine. Crusher was great but she got would get side tracked by Wesley or her drama club. I liked Polaski because it showed that an experienced medical woman counted. Bashir was just there. I really found it hard to connect with that character.
Any with a 1/8 (3.5mm) connector that will fit the same mic jack on the camcorder. Be careful. Low end systems use FM, 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz and 5.4 GHz. The will pick up interference that will ruin your audio. 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz and 5.4 GHz are shared spectrum. They are shared with consumer cordless phones, garage door openers, some analog video security systems, wifi and a bunch of other stuff. VHF is OK UHF is best. You have a choice of base stations. Big base stations require external AC power and a longer cable to connect to the camcorder. Portable base stations run on batteries and many times are mounted to the camcorder's accessory shoe. Good wireless equipment is not inexpensive And I have nothing to say about Nady or Samson wireless gear other than I would not buy it. You also have a choice of handheld mics that are wireless or lavaliere mics. Audio Technica and Sennheiser have a good set of systems that provide either a lav or a module that connects to the XLR connector of the mic. At the low end, the Audio Technica ATR-288. Mid range Audio Technica has the PRO 88W. Their high end has the 1800 series systems. I use a couple of Sennheiser portable EW 100 G3 Series systems (with both the lavs and add-on modules in case I want to use handheld mics rather than the lavs - or one handheld and one lav). Just so you know, these aren't even the expensive ones. Check Sony professional and Lectrosonics To connect multiple mics (rather, multiple base stations for wireless mics), it is easiest/best to plug the base stations into a XLR adapter (juicedLink, BeachTek), and the XLR adapter plugs into the camcorder's 1/8 mic jack bhphotovideo has all this gear.
