Question:

Whats going on with my car alarm!?

I have a 1997 Honda Accord. About 2 years ago, out of the blue, the alarm stopped working. About a month ago, I disconnected the battery to install a new starter. When I hooked the battery back up, the alarm started working again. Last week, I got in my car, but it wouldn‘t start. Then, a very quiet and slow alarm that I have never heard before started. It started going faster and faster, while getting louder and louder. It would not be turned off with the remote, and the only way I stopped it was to open the hood and disconnect the battery. After reconnecting the battery, the car started up just fine.until the same problem happened again the next day. Now it‘s happening at least once a day. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Answer:

May be a short in alarm system, doorlocks, sensors, or bad internal battery in alarm system. Disconnect alarm system. May be simple fuse pull. - If car battery stays charged, remove and/or replace alarm system.
sounds like your alarm was disarmed some how and when you disconnected your battery it reactivated. Check the batteries in the remote that can be the cause of the alarm not turning off. Hook up the battery and if the alarm goes off and the remote doesn't work lock and unlock the driver side door, that should disable it. If that doesn't work then you should have the alarm removed.
