Question:

When an aluminum atom reacts so as to attain a noble gas electron configuration.?

aa 3- ion forms.bthe result is a configuration of 1s2 2s2 2p6.cthe noble gas configuration of argon is achieved.dthe atom gains five electrons.enone of the above

Answer:

B? not sure though it usually loses three electrons to form the +3 charge and it doesn't gain 5if it did it would be a 5- chargebut things don't react so they gain 5! for B it would have the configuration of neon which is in the row above so it would have lost 3 election if it reacted to gain a nobel gas configuration
