Question:

When and where are the Southern Lights?

SOUTHERN LIGHTS, PEOPLE!!

Answer:

IN DA DURTY SOUF!~!! haha. but seriously, the name kind of says it all. SOUTHERN lights. caused by the earth's magnetism I believe.
I assume you are talking about the Southern Lights at the South Pole, or Aurora Australis. They are in Antartica during the austral winter.
They are the southern equivalent to the Nothern lights. The solar wind (which is a fast moving flow of charged particles coming from the sun) excites the particles in the upper atmosphere causing them to glow. It appears at the poles due to the magnetic influence from the poles. The Southern lights can be seen as far north as the South Island of New Zealand and I would imagine in the South of South America.
ANTARCTICA!!! MY AUNT WORKS AS A SCEINTIST AND I JUST ASKED HER!!!
