Question:

when buying a vacuum cleaner?

Im only 22 yrs old so Im still domestically challenged. Im going to be buying a vacuum and I dont know what to look for.. meaning watts n such... someone please help

Answer:

get something light weight definetly. you didnt mention the budget but i would recommend an oreck i use them for work you would love it only 8 lbs and lays flat to get under beds. but they cost like 150-300 bucks.they have bags. i think bagless sucks, its really dirty and gross to clean the filter and empty the container but you can get like a dirt devil for like 50 bucks 12 amps and it works fine.
Just buy a hoover. They are a good brand and by the time it gives out( mine is 7 years old),it's time to get a new one. And Hoovers are not $300. either.
make sure it is made by a good company such as sears. i prefer a canister verses an upright. just go for the basics. not too flashy.
Most will say there 12 amp. And because thats as high as they can go anyway. Look for one with an easy to change bag or a bagless. I think I spent $70 on my bagless and it works great
Go to your local library and check out Consumer Magazine, or go on line - I think there's a fee. There you will obtain info on the latest tests on vacuum cleaners and other appliances.
