Question:

When calculating non liquid friction sliding bearings, what is the purpose of checking P, PV, v?

When calculating non liquid friction sliding bearings, what is the purpose of checking P, PV, v?

Answer:

Check the average pressure of the bearing P is to ensure that the lubricant is not too large pressure extrusion.
Check the bearing PV is to control the contact surface, not overheating and lead to bonding.Even if the P and PV are within the allowable range, the bearings may suffer excessive wear due to excessive speed of the bearings. In order to make the local PV value not exceed the allowable value, we must check the sliding speed of bearings with light load, high speed and large elastic deformation.
Because for non liquid friction sliding bearings, in order to make the bearing area fully lubricated, sometimes it is better to sacrifice part of the bearing area, and extend the oil tank to or directly into the load area.
