You SHOULD worry about wether they are mad of good materialsIf it is a New construction home, find out what time of year it was built, don't know where you're located, but if it rains alot in the winter where you are, don't buy a house built in winterSure they attempt to dry them out, but they don't ever get completly dry befor they cover the wallsIf the house has T-111 siding, don't buy it unless you want to be residing it in 10 yearsGet a privat home inspector would be your best bet.
It is probably something that began as a way to decorate a party atmosphere which was then eaten near the end of the partyIt caught on and now the majority are just for decorI imagine they do get quite hard after a few hours thoughWhen in doubt wait and see what others do around youIf your friend would have seen others eating the gingerbread house then it would be fineIf she did not see anyone else doing so then she should have taken the hint and let it aloneIf you really want to eat it but are not sure then you should ask your host/hostess and see what they sayIf they look at you funny you can laugh and tell them about how you love the taste of them or whatever.
Don't worry so much about that, they are all made of ok materialYou should focus more on increasing the value of the propertyOr the changing neighborhood.
