Question:

When hooking up speakers to an amp.?

Does each speaker HAVE to be on its own channel or can you run a set of speakers on a single channel?

Answer:

you could run a set of speakers on one channel but you will not be getting the full potential of that output for that one channel, you would be better off putting one speaker on one channel.
depends on the speakers and the amp. you need to know how many ohms they are. more than likely 4ohm. really the only way you can do it is to wire them in series. unless you are talking about a box with subs it is really not all that easy. will take you some time. if your amp is 2ohm stable you can do it. just do not do it with the amp bridged. email me and i will send you a couple diagrams that will show you how to do this.
You can bridge the amp to get its max power. That is hooking the speakers on one channel.look on the amp and it should say where to hook up the bridge
yes each speaker has to be on its own channel, if you run 2 speakers in parrallel it will reduce the resistance, which at high volumes will either pop the speakers or blow the amp, although you can run cross overs and have a low freq speaker and a high as well, hope that helps
if you don't run the speakers on different channels it will be harder to adjust your sound. the balance or fade on your radio will not work right. if you really wanted to fine tune your speakers one at a time then you can run them on the same channel. just connect and disconnect them one at a time. i usually do it by the radio either using the balance or fade. this is real important if all your speakers are different watts. i hope this helps. i wouldn't really recommend doing this though
