As noted above, most recycling centers have bins in which you place different kinds of material for recyclingTypically there well be the following bins: Aluminum Cans (these are the most valuable item for recycling) Glass (glass may be segregated further as clear, brown, green) Paper (most municipal recycling will take most grades of paper, including office paper, junk mail, newspapers, broken down packaging paper (like cereal boxes), and cardboard) Steel (yer basic tin can) Plastic containers (may be segregated according to type, see the recycling code on the bottomThese are the materials that are least likely to provide income to municipalities that recycle.) Some things that you probably don't want to bring for recycling: 1Dirty containers (bottles and containers should be emptied and rinsed to avoild attracting vermin at the recycling stations) 2Aluminum foil 3Plastic bags 4Dirty material (paper contaminated with food, oil, etc.) Considering all the above, you might want to get some bins to hold and carry your recycles to the collecton spot In our kitchen we use an old plastic milk crate to hold all our recyclesWe're lucky because we have curbside pickup and we don't have to segregate different materialsBecause you have carry your recycles to the landfill location for collection, you might get some large plastic wastebaskets to put in your kitchen, pantry, garage or shedYou can label each one for what it will hold - this helps eveytbody who comes to your house understand your system, and then they can help outThese large wastebaskets are also good for carrying the recycles to the collection place, and your materials are already segregated when you get thereOf course, all this advice depends on how the recycling is set up at the collection point.
