Our dog suddenly is sneaking onto our sofas. We went away one wknd, our daughter stayed home with our dog he now sneaks onto sofas and runs to his bed when I wake up during the night or come home during the day. SO he knows not to get on the sofas because he runs to his own bed! How can we train him to not get up on the sofas? I bought him his own soft dog sofa bed.
i agree with the person above. put a blanket or cushion or something on hs bed that smells like you. maybe close the door on the room that the sofa is in and move his bed somewere else.

I think its the scent of you guys that your dog is liking not to mention who doesnt love to sleep on a sofa. Try taking a blanket or a pillow with your scent on it and put it in your dogs new bed. Dogs tend to not like new things without a smell. Give it a try!
when you aren't at home or you are no using the sofa for yourself or other humans you can put all the cushions up. Just stand them up but leave them in the same place that way there isn't any way he can lay down on the sofa. He already knows he isn't supposed to but he will do it when you aren't looking because he is smart and he knows he can get away with it. Reward him whenever you see him using his own bed and keep the cushions on the sofa up in the mean time. Good luck!!!
You have to catch him in the act and tell him no. You can put something on the couch so he can't lay on it, or lift the cushions up. You could also try adding a blanket or a small pillow to his sofa bed that has your sent on it. He may want something that smells like you. Or he might want something to snuggle into. My dog has a regular bed pillow on his dog bed that he kinda snuggles into when he lays on it. Before I did that he hated his bed. He does still go on the couch. Can't stop him from doing it when we're gone. So I have a sheet on the couch that I can remove when we are going to sit on it.
