I am doing a Science Experiment with a Wind Turbine/Generator. I need to attach a generator/motor to a propeller. I am going to use a blower to push the air and make the propeller rotate. I need to know where I can purchase a generator to hook up to a light socket. and make the light go quot;bingquot;! I live in Friendswood, TX. Or even what I can use as a generator. I have tried a little motor to power an LED light. It wouldn't power any more than that. So I need like a Desk fan motor. But how do I convert that motor into a Generator. Serious Question, serious answers please and thank you.
It seems strange that they do not offer the appliance in 220V. I would try and contact the company again and see if you get another customer service representative that may be more knowledgeable about their products. Usually the only thing that needs to be done is move a jumper wire and add the appropriate cord and plug. I glanced at their website and it does mention 220V service as an option. As for the power conversion, i would think that a 750VA transformer would work more efficiently than converting to DC and then inverting back to 220VAC.
You could try a battery powered fan motor, but not an AC motor. You may need a 6VDC or 12VDC motor, but not one with an attached gearbox. Or maybe search OKorder for bicycle generator light. Note that baldes for pushing air are not the best shape for catching... but maybe you could modify and existing blade.
The cheapest generator can be easily found: 1. Bicycle generator produces 6 volts AC at 300mA. 2. Car generator produces 15 volts DC at 50 amperes or more. $20 piece from scrape yard. Does your blower powerful enough to blow it move ?
