Question:

Where is a good spot to run my power cable for an amp?

i have a 01 grand prix gt and i want to run the power cable to an amp , anyone know a good spot to run it?

Answer:

if you run your power cable on the passenger side, its important to run your signal cable from your head unit on the opposite side of the car because the signal cable might amplify a hum from the power cable
In that vehicle the battery is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment. There should be a large, rectangular rubber grommet located at the front of the passenger side footwell, with a large wire bundle running through it. I usually route the power wire through that grommet, or drill a hole right next to it. It's important to carefully route and secure the wire in the engine compartment so it can't touch hot or moving engine parts. You'll also want to make sure you seal up the hole around the power wire because it's easy for water to get in at that location.
I recommend running it on the same side as your battery. That way you won't have to cross all the way to the other side of the car. Also, it reduces the length required for the wire. If there is somewhere that you can life up (like a panel you can pull up on the bottom of your car, where the doors are), you can potentially hide the wire under that and run it also.
