Question:

Where should you hoist just the engine (K20a2)?

A friend and i started to change the clutch out of my girlfriends Acura RSX type s and then soon realized that we're idiots and that once we got the trans out there was going to be no way to get it back in. The passenger side motor mount (which isn't really a mount) ripped when we lowered the trans so the engine is being held up by a jack stand. We recently acquired a hoist and decided that would be easier to do but... we can't find anywhere to bolt the hoist in to.Thanks

Answer:

I haven't a clue as to how an Acura clutch is changed nor do I know how to support or remove the engine. Because of this ... Me, myself and I would've gotten a service manual (Chilton's ..about $20 at your local auto parts store or free from the local library) and read up on the procedures *before* just tearing into it. It's amazing what you'll learn by *reading*. You probably need a special adapter to connect to the engine at specific points allowing you to lift the engine. Most front wheel drive cars require an engine support that fits in the engine bay and connects to the engine at specific points. Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance .....
