Question:

Which direction should the coated side of the one-side coated glass face?

nan

Answer:

Coated glass is made by the means of coating one or several layers of metal, alloy or metal compound on the surface of the glass which changes the performance of the glass. It can be divided into two categories according to character, namely the heat reflecting glass and low emissivity glass. Heat reflecting (sunlight control) glass is often made by the means of coating one or several layer of thin film, a compound of metal like chromium, titanium or stainless steel and other chemicals onto the surface of glass. The product made of it is always rich in color with adequate transmissivity of visible light, high reflectivity of near infrared ray and low transmittance of ultraviolet light. Therefore, it's also known as sunlight control glass. Compared with common glasses, it has lower shading coefficient which means better shading performance and no change in the heat transfer coefficient. Low emissivity (Low-E) glass is made by the means of coating several layers of thin film which is made from metal like silver, copper or tin or other chemicals onto the surface of glass. The product made of it has high transmissivity of light, high reflectivity of infrared ray, good heat rejection performance and bad strength of film layers.
The coated side of the one-side coated glass should be put indoors to meet the installation requirement for coated glass. Coated glass is a kind of product of close relationship with surface which means the color, brightness and homogeneity of the surface of the glass need to be able to be adjusted according to our requirements. During the process of adjustment, the coating will become a little different. The difference can be seen under the sun but can't be discovered indoors. The UV resistance coefficient wouldn't change. The condition of reflection and refraction would change a little. But it's not obvious.
In actual operation, the coated side is always put on the second surface of the hollow glass. There are people who want to put it on the third surface. The value of U wouldn't change. Shading coefficient increases but is not obvious. But the choice of the third surface will cause the problem that the final color of the glass on the wall differs from that in design. So in actual operation, the second surface is always chosen.
