I'm not talking about the series finale where she was captain of the Pasteur, sometime during the series alot of really bad things go wrong and the crew has to go down the chain of command and eventually it comes down to Dr. Crusher in the captains chair. I need to know which episode and season.
There was one where some mistake happened in engineering that launched her into a separate reality and crew members were disappearing one after another, once all the other main characters were gone the ship's computer assumed she was the captain and always had been. Great episode!!! For that matter what a great TV show! I still watch it every night, the stories are FAR better than anything on today.
Season Seven, In this conclusion to the cliffhanger finale of the sixth season, Troi, Picard, and Geordi are captured by the Borg and Data's brother Lore who is the leader of this group of renegade Borg. Lore plans, with Data's help to create a new race of beings to become masters of the universe. Meanwhile, Riker, Worf and most of the crew of the Enterprise follow Picard down to the planet to try and locate the missing members of the away team leaving Dr. Crusher in command of the Enterprise. Wasn't that Descent part 1? All the usual officers went to the planet's surface to find Data.
