Question:

which is better inverter mig welder or traditional one with transformer?

i have one traditional old mig welder with transformer and i would like to buy one inverter mig wilder because its lighter weight,so which is better in working and less trouble?

Answer:

Synergic and Inverter MIGs Inverters are starting to find their way into MIG welders, and they can offer a lot of features at a lower cost to the traditional transformer based welders. The inverter technology is currently aimed at increasing the deposition rate (and speed of welding) in high amp spray transfer, and avoiding the transitional globular transfer phase. Welding of thin metal is carried out in dip transfer, and inverter based welders don't currently offer any advantages for car body work.
stick welder is less maintenance
Inverter Mig Welder
The transformer. The inverter can not put out as much electrical power. This leads to much less welding time, and much more idle time. The thicker the copper wire on the transformer, and iron core the more efficent the transformer. The more efficent means the most power out for the power in. Less means loss. This explains the heavier weight.
