The 820 is a decent first bike, but its kind of heavy due to its steel frame; it will feel better on the roadI rode on for years and it served me very well on and off road The 3700 will be lighter because of its aluminum frame, so you may like that one betterBoth are geared the same, so its a matter of which one you like best; ride them both to find out.
